Three Rivers Academy vs Uxbridge College

Three Rivers Academy cruised to a first home win on Wednesday afternoon with a dominant 108-63 victory over the visiting Uxbridge College.

The hosts took some time to get into the game as they struggled with the initial physicality of a bigger Uxbridge side who dominated inside the paint early, but Three Rivers would respond with a 10-2 run to end the first quarter, holding a 23-19 lead.

This momentum would carry over into the second period as the home side then extended the lead with a 30-17 quarter, to build a 53-36 point lead at the half-time break.

Richie Bumba’s gave his best efforts to bring the short-handed Uxbridge side back into the game, but this came with little reward as Three Rivers’ Kane Kenyon found his range – knocking down four three-pointers in the third quarter, giving the home team an 81-51 lead with 10 minutes to play. Uxbridge showed great courage and fight throughout the game, but Three Rivers would continue their dominance in the final quarter, running out eventual winners 108-63.

Three Rivers’ Coach Caylin Raftopoulos said, “Today was easily the best all round performance we’ve put together all season against a very physical Uxbridge team. The challenge for us is to maintain the defence intensity shown today and take the momentum into a tough match up against a well-coached New City College team.”

Three Rivers were led by 46 points from Kane Kenyon, who shot 9-12 from behind the arc, while Jack Fettes adeed 23 and Marc Sylvest chipped in 11. Himmatpal Singh paced Uxbridge with 23 points, supported by 12 points from Byron Emerenini and 10 points from Richie Bumba.

Three Rivers will travel to face New City College in Week 7 action, while Uxbridge will host Holy Trinity School.
