The Norwood School 67 v 73 Northfleet Technology College

Norwood showed an improvement from their last fixture as they faced Northfleet in an exciting nail biting loss, with a final score of 67-73.

Both teams started strongly, trading basket, finishing the 1st quarter 17 -15 to Norwood. The home team pulled away on the second quarter, 21-14, with an impressive offensive effort from the team.

The 3rd quarter brought a totally opposite results as Northfleet raised their defensive intensity, put pressure on Norwood, and forcing them into errors. Northfleet capitalised on the errors by converting the turnovers into quick points scoring 26 points to Norwood’s 12 which was the decisive period of the game.

Northfleet kept on the pressure and intensity on defence going into the 4th quarter and held Norwood to 17 points while they scored 18 of their own. Although the game could have gone either way once Northfleet caught up and past Norwood in scoring during the 3rd quarter, they held the lead all the way and finished as winners.

Norwood’s top scorer Shane Mitchell said: “In the first half we were flourishing offensively and we had a strong hold on the game. However, by the second half Northfleet began to run a full court press which we had no answer to. We still have work to do.”

Top scorers of the game was Owen Longman for Northfleet with a game high 25 points, Shane Mitchell with 21 points for Norwood.
