Stoke-on-Trent College 68 – 46 Archbishop Beck Catholic College

Stoke on Trent College took on Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College on Wednesday afternoon in the ABL Northern conference in which Stoke took the win 68-46. This was the first home game of the season for Stoke so they were looking to make an impact in their opener.

The game started out strong for Stoke on the offensive side, achieving a lot of offensive rebounds as part of a big effort on the glass. The first 3 minutes of the game started with no points being scored until ABCC broke the deadlock with a baseline jump shot to score the first points of the game. Stoke then came back with a drive to the basket from Samuel Raji as the hosts took a lead into the second quarter.

The following quarters saw Stoke slowly building up a strong lead with a good performance from guard Samuel Raji, who finished with 19 points. Alex Tew also impressed as he scored 18 points.

Coach Jamison had the following to say after the game: “It was a good for us to finally play a home game. We still have a lot of work to do as a team and we will be better once healthy and all players are back on the court .”

Samuel Raji again displayed his talents in this game putting up 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals which is his new highest scoring game within the ABL. Archbishop Beck were led by Baranowski with 15 points.

Stoke will look to build on this performance when they take on Loughborough College next week whilst Archbishop will look towards their next game when they come up against Carmel college.
