St Thomas the Apostle Sixth Form College 76-78 Harris City Academy CP (1OT)

Hosts St. Thomas the Apostle College suffered a heartbreaking OT 76-78 loss against a resilient Harris Crystal Palace squad.

Due to many injuries and a few players being made unavailable, STAC fielded only 8 players but took a half time 11 point lead, led by Kofi Oppong and Michael Asaolu.

However, HCACP changed the tempo of the game and forced a series of turnovers with a 13-2 run to start the third, through stifling defence from Maurice Aye and William Bidi. However, STAC found a way to get a few transitions points against the visitors’ press and kept the game close, all the way to the end.

In the fourth quarter, Nelson Adetuyole forced overtime with 2 clutch free throws but STAC’s could not cope with the poise of the away team in overtime with Dillon Essien hitting the go-head 3 pointer to seal the win.

STAC’s Kofi Oppong led all players with 23 points.

Next week, STAC face a tough away game vs the North School, whilst HCACP take on King Henry.
