St.Thomas the Apostle College vs Leyton Sixth Form College

After a week off for the home team, St. Thomas the Apostle College, got back to winning ways with a 68-53 win against Leyton Sixth Form College led by Moses Gordon (23 points, 13 boards) and Rawle Allicock (23 points).

The game started slowly, with STAC holding a 1 point lead at the end of a 10-9 first quarter. STAC continued to be aggressive defensively and began to pull away through Leyton’s many turnovers, thus resulting in easy transition points for the hosts. With Leyton still in the game, the away team relied on points in the paint from Chima Obikwelu (18 points) to claw their way back into contention. However, STAC maintained their lead and finished the game strongly, after some key baskets by Humberto Jr. Ramirez (10 points).

“It is great we won, and we are making progress but I felt today we lost focus  during key moments in the game, which will be key next week, having struggled in away games recently. We must continue to take the challenge in getting better everyday,” said STAC’s coach Ryan.

Next week, STAC look for another win on the road against Cohenel, whilst Leyton hope to get back on track as they hosts The North School.
