St Charles College v New City College

Wednesday’s match-up between St. Charles and New City College featured a decently one-sided affair between the two London sides. The game started off close however, with both teams continuously trading baskets until St.Charles utilised their fast pace offense to gain a lead and win the first quarter 32-16. The home side kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter and combined with some great defence, helped them to maintain a 55-32 lead at the half.

NCC attempted to responded in the second half, coming out with some fire to win the fourth quarter 22-20, however it wasn’t enough as the home side finished the game with a comfortable 106-68 victory. Recent Player of the Week, Aaron Badibo was to no surprise the leading scorer for NCC, putting up 25 points and doing everything he could to try and help his team to make a comeback.

St.Charles’ Coach Pat commented: “My players managed to execute the game plan well and limited the opponents scoring, however we should have stayed on their throat through the second half, I will not drop my standards and we will keep pushing right until the end, through these next couple games and finish the season on top.”

The scoring leaders for STC where Abiodun Adedo with 36 points and Taariq Powell with an efficient 21 points. St Charles will go on to try and keep their winning streak alive when facing Erith Academy next week, and New City College will make their attempt to get back to winning ways when they face Three Rivers Academy.
