Sir Robert Woodard Academy 36 v 75 HTS Storm

Sir Robert Woodard Academy Bears were the host for HTS Storm on Wednesday afternoon at SRWA, with HTS taking the win 75-36.

The first quarter started slowly for both teams as the sides trades blows before the visitors grabbed the advantage to lead 13-22 after 1.

HTS Storm found their stride in the second quarter but fortunately for the hosts they managed to find some rhythm of their own to only trail by 11 at the half, down 22-33.

The 2nd half belonged to HTS though as an all-round performance and solid shooting saw the Storm home comfortably. Following a 3-point 3rd quarter showing by the hosts, the game was all but done for the majority of the game’s final minutes.

SRWA’s Head Coach Gary Smith said: “The positive that we can take away from the loss is that our first year players will only get better as they play more games. They have played against arguably one of the top one or two sides in the conference and for 20 minutes they were competing, but with that being said HTS Storm showed their strength in numbers and held us to only three 3rd quarter points.”

HTS Storm had a balanced scoring effort with all of their players managing to get their name on the score sheet, with Cameron Hildreth scoring 20 points, while Brandon Laryea added 12 and Bako Saxton chipped in with 9. Sir Robert Woodard Academy were led by Lewis Francis who also finished with 9 points.

SRWA will play away to Northfleet Technology College next week, while HTS Storm return to Crawley for their home opener against The Norwood School.
