Raines Foundation School vs St.Charles College

Raines Basketball Academy take their first lost at home to St Charles. 97-81.

Raines had another slow starting game seeing the visitors get off to a 14-5 Run. St Charles’s defence forced Raines to turn the ball over which led to many fast break opportunities with the first quarter ending 16-23 to St.Charles. The start of the second saw St.Charles going on a 11-4 run. RBA tried to keep the game close going into half time down 42-37. The away team led by as many as 8 points throughout the game, and Raines struggled to rebound the ball against a much improved St.Charles side who played hard and shot the ball well in the second half.

Raines Head Coach Laurent Irish said, “I thought we start off slow again, Our effort and energy just could not match Up to St Charles. We still need to be much better from the opening tip. I give credit to Coach Pat, who come in with a good game plan and executed for 40 minutes on both ends of the floor. We did not have a great shooting performance and in key points of the Game, our defencive communicate was very poor. On a positive note, it was good to see T. Edwards and Shakeem Giwa back in the line up after missing several games due to injury. Shakeem looked back on form leading us in scoring with 28 Points. Now we have a full roaster again, we can look at different line ups and rotations for are next match.”

The scoring for Raines was led by 28 points from Shakeem Giwa, 22 points from Jason Prince as well as 15 points from Simon Olanipekun. Meanwhile, St Charles were paced by 30 points from A. Adedo while T. Shell finished with 15 points.
