Raines Foundation School vs Havering

Raines played Havering at home and collected a comfortable 108-53 win in the ABL East Division.

Captain Simon Olanipekun led Raines with 30 points with Sayone Sriskantha finishing with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists.

The game started close with both teams coming out of the gates playing very well. Once Raines picked up their defensive energy, the second quarter saw the East London team take control and forced a lot of turnovers and missed shots to lead 55-21 at half-time.

The hosts started the third with multiple defensive stops and remained aggressive on offence, ending the period on 18-5 run.

Raines headed into the final quarter up 84-27 and made good defensive stops which created more fast break opportunities which converted to their outside shooting and that proved to be the difference as they secured victory.

Coach Laurent Irish said: “We continued to focus on our defensive pressure and sharing the ball on the offensive end. Our defence still needs alot of work but the team played enough to get the win

“In the end we could have performed better but did enough at times to get a victory. Our defensive execution still needs to be a lot better going forward.

“Trell Robinson again had an all-round game while Jason did a good job getting the team into our offence and controlled the tempo.”
