Raines Foundation School v Uxbridge College

Raines Basketball Academy get the Win at home vs Uxbridge college. 96-63

Raines started the game on a 14-5 run. Raines Size and rebounding caused problems for Uxbridge from the start. The 1st quarter ended 22-20 Raines. The 2nd Period saw Raines defence pick up and made it hard for Uxbridge to get any good looks at the basket. Uxbridge continued to try to attack the basket and kept the score close, but Raines finished the half 42-28.

The away team started the 3rd period off well scoring their first 3 baskets. Raines struggled to hit their first few open shots but once their defence stepped up, it caused Uxbridge to turn the ball over which lead to some easy baskets for Raines.

Raines Head Coach Laurent Irish said, “I thought we started off okay. Our effort and energy on defence was good from the opening tip. We still need to do a much better job communicating on the defensive end but at times it was very good. We executed our game plan for 40 minutes on both ends of the floor. We shot the ball okay at times and did a good job limiting our turnovers. We also did a great job moving the ball and playing unselfish. Our guards really made the effort to make the extra pass which lead to some exciting fast break opportunities. Over all it was our defence that caused the most problems which got us the comfortable win. A tough game which both teams played hard until the end”

The scoring for Raines was led by Raines Captain Simon Olanipekun with 21 Points. Shakeem Giwa added 18 points and Jason Prince finished with 16 points Meanwhile, Uxbridge were paced by V. Enerenini 29 points and R. Bubba added 10 points.

Raines resume their ABL schedule next week in the first round of the ABL playoffs.
