Queen Ethelburga’s 90 v 56 Archbishop Beck Catholic College

Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate hosted Archbishop Beck Wednesday afternoon in a replay of last year’s ABL North top of the table clash, with QE taking a commanding win 90 – 56.

The home side would jump out to an early lead leading by 10 at the quarter break. A strong defensive second quarter from QE limited Archbishop to only 4 points but the visitors would respond in fantastic fashion to start the second half cutting the deficit to single digits

QE guard Elijah Walsh would settle the nerves of the home crowd late in the third with a flurry of points as the hosts would run out eventual winners.

“Archbishop are always a really physical and well coached team and we were almost caught napping in the third quarter”, said QE coach Josh Metcalf. “Full credit to Archbishop for refusing to go down without a fight and hopefully we can use this as a lesson to improve moving forward.”

Elijah Walsh continued his strong start to the season scoring a game high 32 points, while the visiting side were led by sharp shooter Harry Kisby who netted 16.

QE will now look ahead to next week when they host Carmel College who have by all accounts had a very strong start to the season, and Archbishop Beck will host league newcomers Loughborough College.
