Queen Ethelburga’s 86 – 82 Hartlepool Sixth Form College

Queen Ethelburga’s took on Hartlepool 6th form in the ABL North Thursday night in what proved to be a close encounter.

QE would build a small lead behind their young guard Latrell Davis in the first quarter but the visiting Hartlepool were relentless in their chase and would erase the 10 point half time lead soon into the third quarter. The game would finish 86-82 in favour of QE but it as a narrow escape for the league leaders.

“We definitely weren’t our best tonight and I think complacency had set in a little bit but hopefully we can use this as a wake-up call. Hartlepool were tough and phenomenally coached. We had long stretches where we couldn’t find a rhythm but I’m proud of the boys for not folding under the pressure and hopefully we can keep moving in the right direction,” said QE coach Josh Metcalf

QE were led by a 40 point performance by Latrell Davis while Hartlepool’s top scorer Killian Bousfield who poured in 33.

QE will look to build on this performance when they host Loughborough College next week while Stoke will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Archbishop Beck to Cauldon campus.

Hartlepool will face Loughborough next week before the break whereas QE will look to continue their momentum in the new year.
