Nottingham Academy Wildcats vs Aston Manor Academy

Aston Manor Academy took another win on their way winning their conference, beating Nottingham Academy 124 – 88.

Aston led from the start and maintained their lead throughout. This wasn’t to say it was an easy game, as Nottingham’s young side kept up the pace and caused problems for Aston on both ends of the floor. Both teams defences caused issues for one another and the speed of the game left you wondering if and when one of the sides would pull away. It was Aston who would do so with Ryan Anglin leading the way with 49 points, 15 rebounds and 6 steals. Zack Powell was dominant in the fourth quarter finishing the game with 25 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Nottingham were led by Tyreece Hudson 23 points and Pedro Elery with 13 points.

“Today we were outplayed by a more experienced and physical side. We kept up with the pace for most of the game but too many unforced errors left us chasing. I was happy with our intentions for most of the contest, but I still have a higher level of expectation when it comes to our concentration and attention to detail. We must be more resilient in adverse moments if we are to take down top teams such as todays competition. The boys showed they are capable of this in spells, but they must do it for longer periods of time. I was highly impressed with physicality of Aston manor and their ability to play at such a high tempo for the whole game. Great job by Coaches Curtis Xavier and PaulDouglas,” said Coach Kieran Wright.

Oliver Sporton had 11 points, Ismael Ahmad 12 points, Kristijonas Kestenis 11 for Nottingham.

Aston look to continue their unbeaten run into the playoffs as they face Gateway College. Nottingham head to County Upper where the look to get a tough win against an experienced County Upper side.
