Northfleet Tech 74-68 The North School

The North School beat Northfleet Tech 74-68 on the road on Wednesday afternoon to leap frog above them in the ABL Southern Conference.

The game was a see-saw battle throughout the first half with both team trading baskets. The North held the lead throughout the first half with a lead of 12 point advantage mid-way through the second. Northfleet tried to answer back but every time they closed the gap the North would answer with some key baskets at crucial times. The North lead 42-33 at the interval.

Northfleet started the second half aggressive and pushing the ball in transition to score easy baskets at the rim, cutting the deficit to 2. However, Northfleet’s inability to space the floor and shoot from outside again led to the North pushing their lead to 14 with 4 minutes left in regulation.

Northfleet started to hit some shots and push the tempo but the damage was already done with the North eventually winning the contest, 74-68.

Evan Longman led the attack for the home team with 32 points, while Mohammad Barnett added 16. Conal Parnell played well for the visitors with an impressive 29 points, with fellow guard Roshan Thakali adding 16.

Evan Longman said ‘We struggled in aspects of our execution on the defensive end today, we helped from the wrong positions and this led to open shots for the opposing team. At the end of the day it was our struggles from behind the arc that led to us losing the game today’.

Coach Parry said ‘Turnovers and not being aggressive on the offensive end cost us today. We were already short-handed with our top scorer side lined through injury and people stepped up to late in the game to make a difference’.

‘Credit should go to The North School who shot the ball well and made it difficult for us to find rhythm on the offensive end’

Northfleet Tech will travel to SRWA next Wednesday while The North School will host John Roan in the next round of ABL fixtures
