New City College 169 v 60 Havering Sixth Form

New City College grabbed a comfortable 169-60 win over Havering Sixth Form yesterday.

NCC once again started the game with a bang, getting the crowd instantly involved as M.Gordon started the game with a dunk for the first points of the contest. NCC’s defensive intensity kept Havering College trying to find ways to score but found it difficult as the first quarter scored ended 50-9 after numerous highlights plays from the home team.

In the second and third quarter Havering gained a little momentum, scoring the ball when given opportunities but NCC still controlled the game even when S. Olanipekun, L.Bennett, K.Harrison, D.Obeng and A. Ayinla played with intensity, showing no difference from the starters.

While missing numerous easy opportunities this unit showed real character, sharing the ball and making plays for each other. NCC led by their captain S.Torres who played a perfect floor game.

A.Oke and M.Gordon, players that just bring the right attitude every time they step on the court, are the anchors for the young Lions leading both from the offensive and defensive end.

Havering College scored their most points in the final quarter after a few defensive lapses committed by NCC.

The young lions had numerous star performances as captain S.Torres 28 points, 7 assist, 2 steals and 1 turnover and M. Gordon having a huge triple double of 22 points, 15 rebounds, 10 steals and 2 blocks.

A.Oke finishing with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assist and 5 steals.
