New City College 108 – 83 Essex Rebels (Vi6 Colchester)

It was a battle of the top of the league clash between New City College and Essex Rebels Academy. NCC started the game with strong defensive intensity which slowed down the rebels to take a 32-16 first quarter lead.

In the second quarter the Rebels found their spark, making numerous three point shots between T. Riley and B. Dylan which brought the score line closer, as the rebels went on an impressive run. On the defensive end Moses Gordon was the driving force for NCC and Simon Olanipekun showed his play making ability on the offensive end. Ezekiel Lashely made a huge fade away buzzer beater, just before the half time horn which ended the first half at 64-40.

NCC were more composed in the third quarter, as Simon Olanipekun controlled the game and stopped the Rebels from building momentum with scoring timely points. NCC made numerous hustle plays, as the starting unit showed good character by controlling the lead, which finished the third quarter 82-60.

Rebels went on one last run which forced coach Lockhart to call a timeout with 4:31 left in the game 94-75 as the defensive intensity was lacking from the Lions. NCC regained their composure and finished the game with a 108-83 win over the Essex Rebels.
