Moulton College vs Long Road Sixth Form College

Long Road Sixth Form College picked up a 53-70 away victory on Wednesday afternoon against Moulton College, as they improved to 2-4 in the ABL Central Conference.

Long Road got off to a strong start, scoring well early and capitalising on Moulton turnovers. During the second quarter the visitors continued to score efficiently as they pulled away to a 16 point lead at the half, 21-37.

The third period saw Moulton change their defence and start to score in transition, cutting the deficit to four points heading into the final stanza, down 44-48. The final 10 minutes saw Long Road adapt to Moulton’s shift on defence as they started to find the shots that gave them their first half lead, while the visitors were also able to limit the hosts to just eight points in the quarter.

Moulton Coach Craig Hopkins said, “We missed too many open shots around the basket. We did a great job to get back into the game in the second half but just didn’t finish and lost focus on defence in the fourth quarter.”

Ben Rayner lead all scorers with a 30 point effort for Long Road, while Zach Dixon paced Moulton with 21 points.

Moulton’s next game sees them in knockout action as they travel to Loughborough College in the cup on 21 November, while Long Road visit County Upper School in their own cup tie.
