Moulton College vs Aston Manor Academy

Aston Manor had a blowout victory against Moulton College on Wednesday afternoon, as their 45-148 victory continued their unbeaten start to the ABL Central Conference season.

The game remained close throughout the opening three minutes with the score tied at 10-10 and as the teams traded baskets. Once Aston Manor stepped up their defensive pressure, they started forcing turnovers which lead to easy baskets. Conroy Hayden enjoyed the spoils as he scored 40 points (EDIT: previously reported as 42), while Zach Dixon lead the home side with 30 points.

“When playing a team like Aston Manor its always going to be an uphill battle, and you can’t help them by making errors. We made too many mistakes and missed too many open opportunities to score,” said Moulton Coach Craig Hopkins.

Aston Manor had multiple options, as their balanced scoring attack got the job done. Diogo Mendes had 27 points, while Akol Ring added 26 and Omari Smith chipped in 23.

After the half-term break, Moulton travel to County Upper School, while Aston Manor have a week off before a top of the table clash on the road at Stoke-on-Trent College.
