Leyton Sixth Form College vs John Roan School

Leyton Sixth Form College Lions suffered a narrow 60-64 home defeat to the John Roan School in a rearranged game that took place on Tuesday 27 November.

Whilst the visitors had the better of the first quarter, Leyton were back in contention by half-time with a two point lead. The lead changed hands several times in the second half which made for a high pressure final few minutes. With the game tied at 60-60 with two minutes to go, Lanre Ayiunla made an important triple for John Roan as the visitors closed out the victory from there.

Chima Obikwelu (19), David Adewale (11) and Hakeem Shobande (11) all scored in double figures for the hosts, whilst Seal Osajivbe had a game-high 21 points for John Roan, with support from Seun Babatola (16) James Aboaba (13) and Lanre Ayiunla (11).

Leyton Lions Coach, Dave Lavinier, was disappointed with the loss, “It’s always hard to lose by such fine margins, it was a really competitive contest and we just missed too many chances, whilst they were a little more clinical.”

Both teams got straight back into action the following day on the 28 November as Leyton visited Havering Sixth Form College, whilst John Roan travelled to Haringey Sixth Form College.
