John Roan School vs VI6 Colchester Colleges

This week saw the John Roan School face off against top competition in VI6 Colchester Colleges, as the hosts came away with a 91-71 win. A fierce contest went back-and-forth until the fourth quarter where a 28 point tally for the home side lead to them running away with the game.

John Roan Coach Courtney Van-Beest said after the game, “It was definitely the best outing from our boys, they really came together and focused-in to get the win. Colchester have been our toughest match-up yet, and the boys really rose to the challenge.”

John Roan forward Lanre Ayinla was happy with the defensive effort, stating, “In the first half we struggled to maintain a lead as both teams traded baskets. However, in the second half we pulled together defensively which lead to easy baskets on the offensive end and contributed to this win.”

John Roan were led in scoring by Seal Osajivbe who finished with 30 points, while Seun Babalola added 22. The bulk of scoring for Colchester came from Dylan Beaird who had 15 pionts and Brandon Marshall who chipped in 13.

Next week the John Roan face off against Haringey Sixth Form College at home, while Colchester will host Barking & Dagenham College.
