John Roan 89 – 100 Harris City Academy CP

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace continued with their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon with a hard fought victory against the undefeated John Roan School, 100-89.

HCACP started on the front foot with lots of desire pushing the ball quickly up the court to create scoring opportunities. In the first half there was lots of positive play by both teams, both enjoying small runs in the game.

First John Roan opened up an early 10 point gap with good guard play coming from T Ojo and fearless rebounding by the collective team. HCACP answered with their own run in the 2nd quarter lead by William Bibi which clawed back John Roan’s early advantage and eventually opened up a lead for the first time for the home side.

The 2nd half continued in the same fashion.  Small spurts of point production going back and forth between both teams. Rawle Allicock again gave great point production and leadership off the bench for HCACP.

With every possession HCACP worked hard on defence to get the ball back and run the floor.  John Roan were unable to cope with HCACP’s high tempo or will to win.  It was a tough contest John Roan’s physical presence keeping them in the game but there was only going to be one winner once HCACP took the lead.

“We continue to get better and better,” said assistant coach Chris Bart-Williams after the victory.  “Last week was a great performance against TNS but we wanted to show people that we are a serious program and that we can bring that energy and fight every time we hit the floor.”

Helping secure the game for HCACP Rawle Allicock lead all scorers with 37 points and William Bidi had 21 points of his own finishing just short of a double double serving out 9 Assists. John Roan were led by J Aboaba, 35 points and T Ojo with 21 points.

Next up for HCACP is an away game at Sir Robert Woodard Academy on Wednesday 13th November, whilst John Roan will host HTS Storm on the same day.
