HTS Storm 81 – 52 The North School

HTS Storm continued their unbeaten run, this time at home to The North School “Varsity Lions” 81-52. Storm led from tip to buzzer behind 19 points from Cameron Hildreth, in a contest where five HTS players hit double figures.

It was a slow start for both teams before a 6-0 run by Storm opened up the gap just before the first break. With the teams trading baskets in the second quarter, HTS then kept their opponents scoreless in the final four minutes, with Brandon Laryea scoring six straight points. Storm had extended their lead to a comfortable, but not insurmountable, 16 point gap as the game headed into the half time break.

The third quarter was a low-scoring affair as the two teams combined for just 21 points. The short-handed home side found their way again in the fourth with all seven players who entered the game in that phase contributing; the lead peaked at 29 which was the margin as the final buzzer sounded.

Coach Daniel Hildreth reflected on the game, saying “Our opponents today had clearly spent a lot of time scouting us. Fortunately for us, our talent level, execution and defensive dominance got us through the contest. With plenty of guys to come back from injury – I am confident of stronger performances as we move forward.”

Cameron Hildreth’s 19 points were supported by 14 from Ben Hilton, while Matt Aziamale chipped in with 11. Findlay Mitchell and Brandon Laryea had 10 apiece to round out the double digit contributors. The “Varsity Lions” were led by Conal Parnell with 21 points, who was supported by nine points from back-court partner Harvey Kemp-Green.

Next week HTS Storm host HCACP while the “Varsity Lions” are on the road to Northfleet Tech.
