Havering Sixth Form College vs VI6 Colchester Colleges

Havering Sixth Form College hosted VI6 Colchester Colleges in their fourth game of the ABL Eastern Conference campaign, a contest which saw Colchester take the win 73-94.

The game remained close during the first period with Havering up by seven, but a strong inside game from Colchester led them on 17-0 run in the second period, giving them the separation they needed to finish the first half up by 11.

The second half was a closer contest with Colchester edging it by 10, but the damage was already done for Havering.

“This was another tough lesson for us, but great to be involved as Colchester really put us through our paces around the basket especially in the second quarter. We still have a long way to go as a developing team but we are making progress each week,” said Havering Coach Damien Plummer.

Coach Plummer added, “Credit should go to the Colchester team as they played a very physical game thoughout, really putting us under pressure in and around the basket.”

John Bergonia led Havering with 23 points, supported by 19 from Ben Butawan and 10 from Devante Abana-Odita, whilst Colchester were paced Dylan Beaird’s 30 points, Peter Ellis added 23.

Havering will continue their campaign after the half-term break on Wednesday 31 October against Haringey, whilst Colchester will take on CoHENEL.
