Havering Sixth Form College vs St.Thomas the Apostle College

Havering Sixth Form College hosted St Thomas the Apostle college (STAC) in a spirited final league game that saw STAC take the win by 10 with a final score of 99 – 89.

The game remained close during the first quarter with STAC keeping ahead by 11pts.  However a 12-0 run at the beginning of the second quarter gave STAC a comfortable cushion which Havering had to dig deep to stay in the game led by 8pts from Sam Roe, the score at Half time was 61 – 43 in STAC’s favour.  The second half was a much better showing by Havering who started to find a rhythm offensively and got some crucial stops to keep in the game.  Havering went into the fourth down by 20 but with a togetherness and resilience that gives a good foundation for next season, and despite Havering winning the quarter, it wasn’t enough to get the win.

“It was an exciting game to end this years ABL campaign and we know we have a lot of work to do to build on the momentum shown at the tale end of this season.  We have a number of seniors who stayed committed to the programme this season and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.  Our ability once again to regain our composure during the fourth was really positive and hope we can build on this for next season,” said Havering Head Coach Damien Plummer.

“Credit should go to STAC who shared the ball really well on offense, were tough on defense and played some entertaining transition basketball.”

John Bergonia finished with 20 for Havering, Samuel Roe finished with 19, whilst STAC were led by 24 from R Allicock. Both teams will look to build over the off season as STAC finish in 7th and Havering Finish in 9th
