Harris City Academy Crystal Palace 71 v 65 St Thomas the Apostle Sixth Form

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace continued their strong start to the season with their first home win, defeating St Thomas the Apostle College 71-65.

Continuing where they left off against Barton College last week, HCACP started the game with the same high energy principles. The game was a hard fought contest with both teams enjoying big runs. At the start of the 2nd quarter HCACP trailed STAC 17-21 but by the half had run out a comfortable lead of 42-30, allowing STAC only 9 points in the 2nd quarter.

In return STAC had their run in the 4th quarter and had rallied back to level the scores 63-63 with 2 mins remaining. With the game on the line, two big 3 point shots from both Frank Bokesa and William Bidi followed by crucial defensive stops in the dying seconds helped Harris see out the game.

J Thompson, who lead all scorers with 26 points kept STAC in the game throughout with his high performance point production. This proved not to be enough against the more balanced scoring of Harris, lead by Rawle Allicock 17, William Bidi 14 and Frank Bokesa 12. Top rebounder in the game with 9 boards was HCACP’s Reece Price-Harrison who finished just one rebound and one basket short of a double double.

“I’m happy with the overall performance today” said the Harris head coach Lee McCarthy, after the pulsating victory. “ We are a new program and I know we will get better, we still have so much to improve on but with a 2-0 start we have a great foundation from which to build”.

HCACP will look to continue their strong start to the campaign on Wednesday 2nd October at home against King Henry, whilst STAC will host The North School.
