Harris City Academy CP 50 – 102 John Roan School

In the second game of the week for The John Roan School, they were victorious against HCACP 102-50.

After a tough loss away, the TJR squad were ready for the rematch and came out on fiery on defence. Baskets were traded early on, but after a scoring barrage from the trio of Samuel Olotu, James Aboaba and Seal Osajivbe the lead quickly grew to 36-14 in favour of The John Roan school.

A scoring drought on behalf of TJR saw a much closer quarter in the 2nd but the lead that had already been built was held strong by some good defence and at half time the score line was 55-28.

The John Roan came out aggressive in the second half and utilised good defence to create fast break opportunities. Some good shooting by Seal Osajivbe, and James Aboaba kept HCACP at bay and game would eventually end 102-50.

Coach Courtney felt that “this is definitely the standard at which we should play every game, the competition will always vary but our standards should not”

James Miller felt that “We really showed our potential today. If we can continue like this, we’ll find it a lot harder to lose games.”

The John Roan school, who will face Northfleet next week Monday, were led in scoring by James Aboaba (38) and Seal Osajivbe (26). William Bidi did the bulk of scoring with 13, closely followed by Gerald Qershija (10).
