College of Haringey, Enfield & North East London vs VI6 Colchester Colleges

Two undefeated teams in the ABL Eastern Conference met on Wednesday, as CoHENEL prevailed to grab a crucial win and improve to 5-0.

Colchester came out strong early in the first quarter to set the tone, led by lead guard Dylan Beaird and big man Peter Ellis. CoHENEL had a tough time getting going, as they only managed six points in the second quarter to trail by 14 at the half.

After the half-time break, CoHENEL came out with a purpose. Strong play from Tobi Ojuri and Andrew Konadu sparked a run for the hosts, who were able to cut the lead to single digits heading to the final stanza. CoHENEL’s press seemed to be the answer down the stretch, causing numerous turnovers which led to easy baskets as they eventually tied the game up. Strong play in the final minutes from John Mogaji, Rupurt Burnett and Emmanuel Omasyama helped the homse side secure the game and continue their undefeated run.

CoHENEL Coach AJ Roberts said, “Colchester came out early and set the tone, but I was really impressed with my team – how we battled back into the game after a bad first half. It was good early test in the season that we needed and now we will get back to practice to work towards next weeks game.”
