College of Haringey, Enfield & North East London vs Haringey Sixth Form College

In the battle of two undefeated teams in the ABL Eastern Conference, it was Haringey Sixth Form College who prevailed 70-89. A strong first quarter by Haringey proved to be too much for CoHENEL to handle, as they couldn’t recover from the deficit.

Haringey came out strong and set the tone from jump-ball with their fast-paced offense and trapping defense. This forced CoHENEL onto the back foot, and it was hard for them to recover from the big lead. Strong play from Haringey’s lead guard Alex Distras and big man Franklin Agu showed to be too much for CoHENEL.

The hosts were paced by 17 points from Joseph Powell, while Emmanual Omasyama supported with 14 and Andrew Konadu added 13. Meanwhile, Haringey were led by a 28 point, 11 rebound double-double from Franklin Agu, while Alex Distras had 24 points in support.

CoHENEL Coach A.J. Roberts shared his thoughts, “Haringey simply wanted this game more than us. They came out and executed their game plan. Credit to my team for not giving up and continuing to battle throughout the whole game.”

Coach Roberts added, “We will get back to practice and be ready for our cup match-up against them next week!”

As Coach Roberts mentioned, both squads have a break from Eastern Conference play next Wednesday, as they match up once again in the AoC Sport National Cup.
