Carmel College 78 v 82 Nottingham Academy

Carmel College lost at home against Nottingham Academy 82-78 in a back and forth game that would be decided in the final minutes.

Both sides would make it a competitive game with players trading baskets back and forth, the home side would lead 18-14 in the first quarter. However some full court pressure from Nottingham would help them gain a big lead in the second and third period due to some balanced scoring from the away side in the half court and in transition.

Carmel would make a run in the fourth quarter due to some savvy guard play however it wasn’t enough to seal the game.

Carmel head coach Dominic O’Neill said: “Credit to Kieran and Nottingham, they fully deserved to win today, playing with intensity and incredible defensively which is how some of these big athletic boys should be playing, we were good in spurts and are very much competitive at this level however we need to be more consistent if we want to steal games like this one and this loss will serve as valuable experience for our boys.”

Scoring was balanced for the away side, Jackson Bisgunu finishing with 20 and Sami Bieeu finishing with 16. The home side were once again paced by a 34 point outing from Finley Moss and supported by 20 points from Ellis Evans.

Carmel continue their schedule with an away game against South Cheshire.
