Capital City 96-86 Harris Academy St John’s Wood

On Monday night we saw two North west London Academies squaring up in high scoring match up.

Both teams started off the blocks with high paced game. Teams traded baskets however it was host who claimed first period 22-16. Visitors never looked to give up and improved their defence in 2nd quarter to reduce deficit to only 3 points at half time 43-40.

However aggressive defence by host team saw them extending lead into double digits towards end of 3rd period behind great offensive display from Kitan Ogunbona and Joshua Alimi. Visitors were never looking to give up, led by outstanding performance from C.Barbieri (35 points) however it wasn’t enough to overcome well balance home team who extended their lead to almost 20 points half way through 4th period and claimed their 5th win in a row in very important game vs local rivals.

Capital City head coach said:

“We knew from beginning this will not be an easy game. St Johns wood has great lead in Barbieri who was difficult to stop. However, boys executed my goals and we secured very important win over our local rivals. Credit to Kitan Ogunbona for great scoring display and my first-year players for great impact on the game.”

Kitan Ogunbona led home teams  scorers with 129while supported by J.Alimi 19 points while visitors were led by Barbieri with massive 35 points display.

Capital City will look to extend winning streak with home game to undefeated St Charles team while Harris will look to bounce back at home game vs Hammersmith College.
