Aston Manor Academy 74 – 50 City of Leeds Academy

Aston Manor got back to winning ways with a 74-50 defeat of City Of Leeds on Wednesday afternoon. Ben Woog was the star man on the day with a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds.
The first quarter was a tight affair with both sides trying to secure a firm foothold on the game, but Aston Manor stepped up their defensive pressure in the second quarter and jumped out to a 43-27 lead going into the half-time break.
The third quarter was a messy affair and was riddled with mistakes from both teams but as most of the damage was done in the second quarter, both teams traded baskets in the fourth to see out the game.
“Playing both sides of the ball has been an issue for us thus far” said Head Coach Curtis Xavier. “But periods of the game we excelled at the defensive end and a result we prevailed.”
Morris Aniakor chipped in with 16 points for the home side while Diogo Mendes added 14. Bailey England had a great second half for Leeds with 15points with Aryan Davoodi adding 11.
Aston Manor try to maintain a strong playoff push away to Stoke next week with Leeds are away to Archbishop Beck.
