Aston Manor Academy 73 – 38 Archbishop Beck Catholic College

Aston Manor kept up their run of good form with a 73-38 defeat of Archbishop Beck on Wednesday afternoon. Captain, Akol Ring again led by example with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the home side.

Archbishop Beck started the brightest with Matij (15 points) and Burgess showing their offensive tools but after a quick timeout from Coach Xavier, Aston Manor started to click and Abdullahi Farah came off the bench to spark an 11-3 run to end the 1st quarter 23-13 up.

The 2nd quarter was a tighter affair with Mataj keeping the visitors within reach but Aston Manors size started to pay dividends on the defensive end with Frank Madubuko cleaning up on the boards as the home side went i to the half 17 up.

Aston Manor came out after the half time break with a vengeance and stepped up their defence to only allow Archbishop Beck 14 second half points. With the luxury of a big lead, the home side ran its bench to see out the home win.

“ We can be proud of our defensive game today as it created our offence” said Head Coach Curtis Xavier. “ Great production from our reserves helped secure our win”

Abdullahi Farah had 15 points for the home side with Dylan Lester chipping in with 12. Liam Burgess had a near double double of 9 points and 9 boards for the visitors with Sam Dawson adding 6 points and 4 steals.

Aston Manor now go away to Carmel next Wednesday hoping to keep their winning streak alive and Archbishop Beck will look to bounce back away to Stoke on Trent.
