#5 Haringey Sixth Form College 103-69 #12 Capital City Academy

Haringey Sixth Form put in a perfect first round play-off game as they beat Capital City 103-69.

Behind a noisy and supportive home crowd, Haringey started off the game strong and in full attack mode as they got off to a 22-0 run early on, eventually winning the first quarter 34-14. Haringey starters Distras and Young lit up from behind the arc, each knocking down 3 three pointers in the quarter.

The second quarter saw more of the same as Haringey continued to dominate, forcing Capital City to turn the ball over and get into team fouls, giving Haringey easy scoring chances at the free throw line. After a scoring rampage from Newbury, who scored 23 first half points and Distras, who had 19 first half points, Haringey took a 60-20 first half lead.

The second half saw a strong comeback attempt from Capital City, who scored 49 second half points behind their scoring leader Mills (who finished the game with 16 points). Despite this scoring run and Capital City winning the fourth quarter, Haringey’s lead was too large to overcome. The final score was a home win for Haringey: 103-69, who now advance to the next round of the ABL play-offs where they will travel to York to take on Queen Ethelburga’s College.

Game high scorers: Newbury 41pts, Distras 34pts
