#2 New City College 115 – 69 #15 Oasis Academy

The Sweet Sixteen matchup for #2 seed New City College Lions was #15 seed Oasis Academy Enfield. Both teams started the first quarter with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. The game was end to end, with numerous highlight blocks, dunks and athletic plays. The first quarter score ended 28-12 to the home side.

In the second quarter the more experienced side took it to the visitors. The young but impressive Oasis team struggled to find open space to create the higher percentage shots and struggled in transition which led to points for the Lions. The backcourt partnership between Simon Torress and Simon Olanipekun made 3 threes amongst both, whilst the front court players dominated the paint area. The half time score was 66- 25.

During the second half NCC continued to have their foot on the gas, outscored Oasis 28-20 in the third quarter, which kept the lead at a safe distance for the visitors. The visitors coached by former BBL player Perry Lawson showed the “never give up mentality”, outscoring the Lions 21-24. The final score was 115- 69.
