ABL Player of Week 16 – Ben Woog

After a strong showing in week 16, Aston Manor Academy’s Ben Woog has been selected as the ABL Player of the Week.

Woog was the star of the show as Aston continued their playoff push with a comfortable 74-50 home win against Northern Conference opponents City of Leeds Academy. Eventually finishing with 18 points and 15 rebounds, Woog’s efficiency rating of 28 was a solid reflection of his impact on the contest.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be back playing basketball again after being out injured for 5 months and finally be playing for Aston,” said Woog.

“The players around me have been very supportive since moving here and my coaches have been helping me improve myself and get me back on track from my injury.

“All I want to do is have fun, play hard and win for the team.”

Head coach Curtis Xavier added: “After such a serious injury and the patience and discipline he has shown during his recovery, this is just recognition.”
