Player of the Week: Louis Roberts

Holy Trinity’s Louis Roberts receives his second ABL Player of the Week award after dropping a monster double-double of 37 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 5 steals, in big win on the road against New City College-Hackney.

It appears that history repeats itself, as Roberts last received the award in Week 8 against the same NCC squad where he racked up a near triple-double of 22 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists in his sides narrow 75-74 victory.

The 6’1 guard was a monster on the boards in Week 18, grabbing a game high 6 offensive rebounds on his way to a game high 11. Roberts was a dominant force in the game, shooting 17-23 from the field for the Crawley-based academy who improve to a 10-6 record and sit directly behind NCC in the fifth place spot of the Southern Conference.

Louis Roberts commented on his performance saying, “I’m happy I got selected for Player of the Week, I want to thank my teammates and coaching staff. We had our season-high in points scored, but I really think we got it done on the defensive end and stuck to our principles throughout the game. I’m excited to continue from here, working hard to improve my game.”

Head Coach Daniel Hildreth commented on Roberts’ performance saying, “This is the second time Louis has won the Player of the Week award this year, and the last time he received the award I suggested it wouldn’t be the only time this season. That’s purely down to his relentless work ethic and desire to succeed. He epitomises the term ‘unseen hours’ and I’m glad that his efforts have paid off on the floor – being recognised again on a bigger scale.”
