Player of the Week: James Aboaba

James Aboaba has been awarded ABL Player of the Week after an impressive week which saw him lead the John Roan School to back-to-back wins over St Thomas the Apostle College and The North School.

In a Wednesday 12 December match-up on the road at STAC, the 6’5″senior forward paced his side to a 77-86 win with a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds, while adding three steals, an assist and a block.

Aboaba’s big performance was followed up on Friday 14 December when John Roan travelled to The North School, picking up a 76-83 victory, as he once again led his squad with 21 points, while pulling down a monster 17 rebounds.

The John Roan star shot 18-34 from the floor over the two games for an efficient 52.9%, while also shooting 3-7 from behind the arc for a 42.9% clip.

Aboaba said, “I am happy to be awarded Player of the Week, it is all thanks to my coach and teammates for pushing me to get better every day.”

John Roan Coach Courtney Van-Beest said, “James has been a developing talent from the beginning of his time with the academy, and always comes up big when needed. His hard work in practice has really paid off and has showed most recently in two of our tougher games.”
