Player of the Week: Ben Hogg

Ben Hogg has been named Player of the Week in the ABL after leading Tyne Met to victory in Week 8.

The 1999-born centre finished with 40 points on 15-of-21 shooting along with 14 rebounds for an impressive double-double away at The Sheffield College.

“I’d just like to thank the ABL for receiving this for a third time,” declared Hogg. “This week we came out with a much needed win over Sheffield after a tough two-point loss last week.

“I’d also like to thank my team-mates who work so hard to allow me to score, they believe in me and without that I couldn’t be doing what I am. We all quickly realised my dominance inside and we played to our strengths feeding me the ball when we could.”

Head Coach, Shaun Malone added: “Ben’s progression and leadership on and off of the court this season has had a huge influence on our basketball programme as he encourages and mentors our younger players.

“His performance against Sheffield College despite a slow start showed the impact that his skill set can have in the ABL.

“It is hard to believe that with less than three years playing experience Ben has developed all aspects on his game to be one of the biggest threats in college basketball.”

Tyne Met improved to a 2-4 record in the Northern Conference.
